Somerville crash sends 7 to local hospitals

It should be common knowledge that drivers in Massachusetts and throughout the country are responsible for the safety of other motorists, and that includes passengers in a driver's own vehicle. When motorists fail to live up to that responsibility and their actions are deemed to be negligent, then people who were injured as a result of a car accident are entitled to compensation.

A recent three-vehicle accident in Somerville sent seven injured people to local hospitals. Fortunately, none of the injuries sustained was thought to be life-threatening.

The 19-year-old driver of a 1994 Acura was identified as being responsible for the series of collisions, and his 18-year-old passenger was one of those transported from the scene for treatment.

Other injured persons included a 26-year-old female driver, the male passengers in her vehicle and a 24-year-old man in a third vehicle. The injured parties were sent to Somerville Hospital and Massachusetts General. Details of the event were not made immediately available, but three local fire trucks arrived to help treat the victims at the scene.

All of those injured in the crash, apart from the 19-year-old driver, could potentially sue him for injuries and damages. Those hurt in such an accident often consult with personal injury attorneys to learn what options are available. It is important that Boston-area residents are aware that victims are protected under state law.

As for the injuries sustained in this particular accident, they may not seem serious at first. But car accident injuries have a way of worsening over time, and anyone who receives treatment after such a crash should keep all records of medical bills in case a personal injury claim is necessary to recover compensation for damages.
